Ethiopian athletes Tirunesh Dibaba and Sileshi Sihine today announced plans for their wedding ceremony on October 26th 2008.
Dubbed as "The Wedding of the Millennium", the wedding will combine various elements of an Ethiopian traditional wedding ceremony with many modern and unique facets that will make the couple's matrimony one of the largest in Ethiopian history.
Following a busy morning of festivities, the couple are expected to host a luncheon at the luxurious Hilton Addis and will then head to the Meskel Square at the heart of Addis Ababa where thousands are expected to gather in order to welcome the stars.
The couple will then use traditional horse-and-carriage transportation to travel to the Sheraton Addis accompanied by a police March band and other well-wishers.
The highlight of the day's festivities will be the large banquet dinner at the end of the wedding where around 1,000 people are invited to witness the two athletes tie the knot. More details of the ceremony will be announced shortly. Read More.
