Curfew slapped on Mandera over insecurity

A curfew has been slapped on Mandera as clan fighting intensified.
And a minister has threatened to quit Government unless the insecurity is contained. Development of Northern Kenya and Other Arid Lands Assistant Minister Hussein Sasura has accused the Government of laxity in containing insecurity in Marsabit District.
Yesterday Mr. Sasura threatened to quit unless the State assures him law enforcers will address the situation urgently. "I will not continue to serve in a Government that exhibits selective provision of security to some communities while ignoring others," he said.
The quit threat follows a wave of insecurity in Mandera East and Central districts where six people have been confirmed dead. Sasura spoke as two warring clans - the Murule and Garre - in Mandera have been fighting over a borehole. The clashes saw 15 people killed last month. Read More.
