Bulcha: OFDM and OPC Agree to Merge
Ayyaantuu - Dec 4, 2008 - Oromo Federalist Democratic Movement (OFDM) and Oromo People's Congress (OPC) have reached an agreement to merge the two political parties. The report quoted Bulcha Demeksa, OFDM Chairman, as saying that, at the general assembly meeting last Sunday, OFDM passed a decision to merge with OPC.
Bulcha said after series of discussions on basic issues, the two parties had agreed to merge. For example, Bulcha indicated OFDM and OPC both struggled to institute a presidential system of government, to make Oromiffa one of official languages of the country. The Chairman added that he public repeatedly asked for merger of Oromo opposition political parties working in Ethiopia. Accordingly, last year OFDM and OPC signed cooperation agreement. Read More.
