International Runner Ted Jaleta tells his story at Wellness gathering

Sporting dreams, harrowing escapes, hiding, concentrations camps, emigration to Canada, hard work and sporting accomplishments marked the life of Ted Jaleta.
Jaleta told his story during a three-day family wellness conference at the JRMCC Sept. 20.
A 19-year-old distance runner in his native Ethiopia when the government of Emperor Haile Selassie overthrown, "I was groomed to be an Olympian and got a scholarship. The future looked bright. Due to the civil war my dreams were shattered."
Jaleta was posed with a choice to be either with or against the new regime.
"I opposed and participated in peaceful demonstrations with students. I was a student at the time. The demonstrations turned violent … Life was just survival." Read More.
