Oromo Students Organization at the St. Cloud State University hosts first fundraiser
University Chronicle - October 2, 2008
The Oromo Student Organization (OSO) [at the St. Cloud State University in Minnesota] hosted their first fundraiser in Atwood Monday through Wednesday.
The fundraiser was set up at a kiosk in Atwood from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, where OSO members handed out fliers and displayed a video of the mass starvation in Ethiopia.
Their fundraiser hopes to help support the 4.5 million people in Ethiopia that are in need.
OSO is an organization that started last fall. It is designed to create awareness of the Oromo culture, which is largely based in Ethiopia.
"Most people know Ethiopians, but they don't know Oromos, which is actually the largest tribe in Ethiopia, and the third-largest tribe in Africa," said Galata Tona, a board member of OSO. Read More.
