The Ethiopian Government Takes the Afaan Oromoo TV Program off the Air

HRLHA believes that this is a blatant violation of the fundamental rights of the Oromo people committed in violation of not only what were provided for in the Ethiopian constitution but also in the international treaties and covenants the country has ratified. It also believes that this action targets not only the present but also the future generation of the Oromo people by aborting its linguistic and cultural revival. This action clearly signals that the cultural and political rights and powers of nations and nationalities to decide their fate are being severely challenged.
